Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups typically in programs with exceptional children or equivalent programs; monitor and report student progress.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

 

Instructional Assistant II incumbents work within a complex program typically requiring additional skills and characterized by increased independence of action. Instructional Assistant I incumbents assist a certificated teacher by performing a variety of support functions in a regular classroom setting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

Classified

 

Must have one of following: 

    

Completed two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (48 hours of college credit as demonstrated with an official transcript on file at the Board of Education Office);  OR 

 

Obtained an Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university (Official transcript must be on file at the Board of Education office); OR

 

Passed the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment

 

Must meet the requirements of a criminal record check(s) as specified by Kentucky State Law

 

Must meet health requirements as specified in the district personnel policy

 

Must be able to work with special needs students and meet the variety of needs of the students
